Hard hitting Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams fractured his forearm Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was injured during a special teams tackle in Dallas’ 41-37 victory.
Roy Williams, known as one of the hardest hitting strong safeties in the NFL, was hurt when he and teammate Keith Davis combined to hit Eagles Quintin Demps during a kickoff return. He immediately went to the sidelines and just a few moments later was escorted to the locker room.
The five-time Pro Bowler is said to miss at least three weeks. More than likely it will be longer than that. Backup Patrick Watkins took Williams’ place and let’s say he made a few costly mistakes including a 15-yard face mask penalty.
The Cowboys are already weak in their secondary and with Roy Williams out for the next three weeks at the very least, that puts more pressure on the rest of the defensive backs.
In the same game, Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten was forced to the locker room in the first half due to a separated shoulder. Though, Witten did manage to return to the game and he finished with seven total catches for 100 yards including a key catch that set up a Marion Barber 1-yard go-ahead touchdown run.
But the important part of all this, the Cowboys beat the Eagles and I won some money!
