However, the reason for this more than doubling of their normal audience wasn’t to see their adorable sextuplets turn 5 years old. No, this time the cameras and the audience looked for something else. Signs of a marriage in trouble.

Magazines and tabloids have been all-aflutter with stories and rumors that Jon & Kate Gosselin are in trouble. Some have said they have horrible fights with Kate doing everything from dumping dresser drawers to locking Jon out of the house. On the other extreme, there are stories of marital infidelity on both sides of the relationship, something both Jon and Kate deny. But the scrutiny of living with cameras all the time does seem to be taking its toll, but not in terms of ratings. People tuned in to see if the sextuplets‘ fifth birthday would be a train wreck.

But with this kind of strain on the marriage, and many questioning whether this kind of scrutiny is good for the children, will audiences continue to tune in to watch?
