The verdict is in! President Barack Obama gets to keep his BlackBerry for personal use! How amazing is that?! He’s the most powerful and possibly targeted individual in this nation and has found way around the system. Talk about a strategic and technologically advanced el presidente. He’s only been in officially in office two days and is making things work HIS way, but like his past road to victory it wasn’t the easiest win for him.
President Obama has really been fighting to keep his BlackBerry and be able to use it despite the concerns of the very nervous National Security Agency. As you know the BlackBerry has Internet and e-mail access so of course his use will be limited with enhanced security. Heavy encryption comes as part of that “heavy security”, deterring information from winding up in the wrong hands. According to the Associated Press the president had to compromise in order to keep his favorite gadget. Exactly what was the compromise and with whom? That is unknown, but what we DO know is that the “BarackBerry” WON’T be using a GPS device.

President Obama will keep his super-secured BlackBerry
I’m sure many of you out there can identify with the president’s addiction to his BlackBerry (or in hundreds of others’ cases the iPhone, BlackBerry Storm, MACbook, Voyager, smartphone, stupid phone or just cell phone in general) I won’t lie. I feel almost naked and very out-of-touch without my little LGENv2. The advances of technology have done this to us! A quick text-message can tell you where dinner will be, with who and at what time. Now our very own “high-tech” prez (the country’s first) NEEDS his BlackBerry. It is believed that the symbolism of his now super-secure BlackBerry is key to Obama personally. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says “I think he believes it’s a way of keeping in touch with folks,” and not “getting stuck in a bubble..”. Apparently Gibbs has received e-mails from Obama regarding anything from strict business to the poor performance of his favorite football team. “I think he finds it an important way to continue to communicate.”
According to an article on msnbc.com I learned that “the problem with mobile devices is that you cannot protect the medium they’re connected too, and one of the issues with BlackBerrys, which was made by a Canadian company, is that its “numerous servers are used to transmit BlackBerry messages, and not all of them are in the U.S.”
No matter what sort of device Barack Obama is using, I think he should be quite alright and well-protected hanging around the kind of dudes he has. From what I hear his security personnel is ON POINT!
