Joseph Petcka, the former New York Mets minor leaguer and actor who was accused of killing Lisa Altobelli’s cat, officially goes on trial.

Joseph Petcka, 37, was charged with felony cruelty for beating to death his ex-girlfriend’s cat and according to him, the 8-year-old cat attacked him so he was just defending himself. To me, that just sounds weird for a cat to attack a person out of nowhere. I mean, I have never of that before but I guess there’s a first for everything, huh?

This story is pretty interesting in the fact that there are always two sides of the story. It almost seemed like a “he said, she said” type story. But this all took place back in the Spring of 2007 where he was arrested.

Now the trial begins…

The opening statements happened yesterday and it will continue.

Anyways, part of the story says Lisa Altobelli’s cat, Norman, never liked Petcka and would always hiss and growl at him whenever he was around. Then one day, Norman decided to attack Petcka by biting him in the right hand and till this very day he has no idea on why he was attacked.

After Petcka was bitten, he kicked Norma and that’s how he killed the cat. But everyone is saying he brutally murdered this cat. Some people make it seem like he kept stomping on the cat and cut him open or something. But in reality, I don’t think he did.

Anyways, the star witness and cat owner, Lisa Altobelli, takes stand and tells a different side of the story than what she mentioned before.
