Jason Kapono – Sour Valentine’s Day
Jason Kapono, who the Raptors signed for his three-point shooting ability, could make only 62 of his 3-point shots in the 55 games so far in this NBA season. But surprisingly, it is the same Jason Kapono who had bagged a four-year deal of $24 million with the team. His teammates as well as the media as are buzzing with gossip about his deal. Raptors forward, Kris Humphries, cracked a joke about how Jason Kapono had bagged the deal. He thinks Jason Kapono “smuggled a gun into Canada, put on a mask, broke into Bryan Colangelo’s office and came out with that contract”.
It has become an uneasy issue for the Raptors to continue with Jason Kapono’s pricey deal when the player is not being able to deliver his best shots. Sources revealed that Raptors GM, Bryan Colangelo, is desperate to get a trading partner who would bear the expenses for the remaining two years of Jason Kapono’s contract before the forthcoming trading deadline. Jason Kapono however, has tried to save his skin by complaining of a cold shooting hand and the slick leather of new basketballs.
He also commented in his usual dry humor about his losing the $35,000 prize money that it was a “subconscious move” to curb his wife, Ashley’s shopping spree. However, Jason Kapono regretted that he disappointed his wife on Valentine’s Day.
