The grandfather of toddler Caylee Anthony was taken into police custody today and transported to a local hospital for psychiatric evaluation. Police found him alive in a Daytona Beach motel after he wrote a five-page suicide note saying things like “I just need to get away”. Along with the letter Anthony sent suicidal text messages to his family saying he “doesn’t want to live anymore”, according to spokesman Jimmie Flynt of the Daytona Police Department. Flynt told ABC News it did not raise speculation that George Anthony was involved in his 2-year-old granddaughter Caylee’s murder.

In October 2008 Anthony’s daughter, Casey Anthony, was charged with Caylee’s murder. The toddler’s decomposed body was found less than a mile away from the Anthony home on December 11th.
The police found George Anthony at the motel when he was reported missing by his family when he didn’t show up for a meeting on Thursday. George’s disappearance came just days after more gruesome details emerged concerning the discovery of Caylee’s body. Police invoked the Baker Act which allows authorities to hold people for up to 72 hours pending psychiatric evaluation without their consent.
Anthony’s recent actions and behavior don’t raise suspicion or need for investigation with the involvement in his granddaughter’s murder. It is believed that all the pressure and pain has gotten to him. He’s grieving and dealing with more and more pain as the information about his beloved granddaughter’s murder continues to come in.
George Anthony’s daughter, 22 year-old Casey Anthony, is currently in jail and charged with murder in the case.
