The 2010 FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 11
FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place between June 11th and July 11th 2010. This will be the first time that South Africa hosts the international football tournament. Really this is the first time that an African nation will host the tournament!! That just makes things even more exciting! Five African nations placed bids to host the 2010 World Cup: Egypt, Libya, Morocco, South Africa & Tunisia. South Africa is the first host to participate in World Cup qualifiers since 1934.
I’m sure you will be rooting for your team as we near the event. The 32 teams will come from 5 or 6 confederations. Each nation gets the chance to show fans what they’re made of. Things can get rather competitive since there is a strong sense of pride in each player’s country but it’s a beautiful thing seeing all the various nations come together. The host nation automatically qualifies for the tournament. Although Italy is the defending champ, they don’t automatically qualify for the final tournament. Be sure to check out the 2010 FIFA World Cup Calendar to see who is playing and when! Let the countdown begin!!
