The Reasons why Google Fails on Renewing GrandCentral.Com Domain (13)

What an embarrassing, Google fails to renew one of their domain.
It would be OK if the domain was GoogleSex.Com or GooglePorn.Com, unfortunately the domain is GrandCentral.Com. A very popular site which they have just acquired about a year ago.
GrandCentral.Com was expired on May 20th, and just renewed for one year on the same day later after they realized that their site is down i guess lol. Hm.. another one year.
How could they failed? There are possible reasons I guess
- They forgot that GrandCentral.Com is theirs
- They have no money to renew it! And after the site down, some of their users sent them donation to renew it. And finally the donation is enough to renew for a whole year, so they renewed it.
- They are too busy preparing contents for their another domains (GoogleSex.Com, GooglePorn.Com, GoogleReligion.Com etc)
- They were waiting to day H - 1 (just for fun. They like to have fun remember?), but missed it because day H - 1 is May 19. And that is Monday, and everyone is busy on Monday right?
- They were hacked (Ah I’m not really sure about this. If the reason #2 is true, then there is nothing to steal there, I wouldn’t hack them if I was a hacker)
- The engineers wanted to renew the domain, but they were waiting a sign of the financial manager. (Again this is probably has something related with reason #2)
But if this is true, then I guess we know the answer of TechCrunch question about who to get fired from Google.
- …
Hm.. I am still thinking about the 7th reason. What do you think guys?Any idea?

I think that they were playing mind games… just like on eBay when you’ve places a bid on an auction. When there is like 5 minutes left, you sit there and click “Refresh” over and over to see if someone come in to outbid you.
So, Google figured there was a following of people constantly checking to see if they renewed and then they did at the last minute. LOL!!
Could you imagine scoring that domain name right under Google? Ha!! That would be awesome. LOL
aha, so it’s kind of another version of my reason #4 lol
i think google to busy upgrading their algorithm
ah so they are still upgrading their algorithm? lol
I think google is too busy to optimize the “The New Way to Use Your Phones” keyword
, so they forgot to renew it. LOL…

#7–They have some much staff that they kept passing this job around to the next guy down the ladder until it was almost too late. LOL
(Just guessing)
i think google to busy upgrading their algorithm
i think they don’t think anymore
I think they’re too busy banning paid review publisher
Hmm. If i remember correctly, expiration date is not actualy the date when domain goes free. Actual deletion of domain record is one month after expiration date, so except unaccessable web site nothing terrible happend.
And it can happened so, that Google actualy payed to the registar, but something was wrong later…
Grandcentral is still on, nothing wrong with their domain, the reason they are down its because they move their system to GOOGLE network.

I think Jack has the right to post what he wants coz this is his blog. I really don’t think a lot of people mind posts like these.
Perhaps they ran out of money buying (then running) Youtube?
