World of Warcraft lead designer Jeff Kaplan has recently revealed to the gaming world two additional classes that were axed during the Lich King expansion pack. At first they had a list of twenty nine possible classes, that eventually got narrowed down to three; Death Knight, Necromancer, and Rune Master. As we all know, the only class to make it into the newest World of Warcraft expansion pack was the Death Knight.

In the Blizzard podcast he said:
“We were talking for a while about a Necromancer. He would kind of be a range caster, do a lot of corpse explode, that sort of thing. Things we ended up incorporating into the Death Knight. We also had a cool idea for a Rune Master. That was going to be more of a melee type – think rogue or monk type character. But Death Knight ultimately fit.”
These two classes sounded like they would have been extrememly awesome to play as. At least some of the features made it into the Death Knight classes. It is always interesting to find out various features that have been cut from a game’s production.
If you check out the podcast, it goes on to tell other very interesting factoids about the lastest expansion as well as some new quests that will be ready soon. It is a very interesting read/listen. I will put a link to the podcast as soon as they make it available. Check back here for some updates.
