Remember some couple days ago when were talking about David The Coconuter, our friend with his expensive domain problem? Seems the post got lots of attention from people out there. One of them is a popular cheap hosting and domain registrar company, Triple.com.

Triple.Com is here because they agree that a domain should not be that expensive, $35 just for a single domain? Triple offers you $9.9 per domain for a year! so much cheaper right?

domain price

Why you should register a domain on Triple?

Here are some advantages you can see on their domain name registration page.

  • User friendly control panel
  • Useful domains management tools
  • Best customer service and support
  • Real prices with no hidden cost
  • Reliability
  • Free features for every domain
  • Advanced features for domains
  • High security

Sure real price is not enough, If we want to buy a domain, then we have to make sure that we have full access to our domain control panel. and luckily Triple gives that access for us.

What about the Web Hosting?

Triple has also some good offers about web hosting package. Of course just like another web hosting company, Triple offer

Jack, in term of pricing, this is definitely a cool hosting plans! But somehow for me (pls correct me if i’m wrong), BlueHost and DreamHost has the coolest hosting plans to date (in terms of customer service i vote for BlueFur, the guys at BF are awesome!).

And also thanks for sharing about the bandwith needs, i am happy to know that even with your current blog capacity, you only need not more than 100 Gb. So i think my self hosted wordpress blog is ok for a while.

Anyway, do you think you have experiences to share with us in regards of moving blogger blogs to wordpress without costing too much pain (lost of links, etc etc)?

Thanks dude!

On Blogger, i can get a domain for just $10 a year.

Isn’t it better and simple?

keep hosting for free on Blogger (google is reliable enough for me  ) and use a domain of my own?

Give your ideas, too!

The problem with most hosting providers is that they lose your blogs. Yahoo and some other hosts probably offer automatic backups, but if you don’t log in one day, your empty blog will be backed up, leaving you with nothing.

If you login every day you may be able to catch your backup file before it is replaced by the new empty file. Then you’ll need to download the backup file and upload it. Uploading a blog database is different from uploading other files.

Another thing to consider is their guaranteed uptime. A good host should offer at least 99.9% uptime. If they don’t advertise their uptime, then it’s probably not good.

I’m sticking with Blogger for my blogs. I have hosted domains too, but I got tired of losing them.
