This will be the first post on a series of reference write-ups for new bloggers who are planning on monetizing their blogs or make money with it. In this post, we will be covering the different direct ways on how to properly monetize your blog.
If you do not want to miss a single post on this subject, I would suggest you subscribe to JackBook dot com’s full RSS feed and join the 500 plus others who are already subscribed to it. I wouldn’t normally do this on the introduction part of the post but heck, it wouldn’t hurt if I did.
Before moving on, you first need to evaluate yourself if you really want to monetize your blog. Remember, this wouldn’t be a walk in the park and you need to put in some hard time and a whole lot of effort for you to succeed with it. Also, if you have mixed emotions about monetizing your blog, you need to sort this out first before doing anything. If you have problems with this then a good suggestion would be: stop reading this post now!
For those who are really interested, here we go:
1. Contextual Advertising
This type of advertising is the most popular today. This is the easiest way for you to make money with your blog. You just need to paste a code into your site and you are up and running. This type of advertising comes in many forms. The most popular program to note is none other than Google AdSense. A lot of blogs and niche sites has seen success with this programs so this would be a good program to start with for beginners. I think everyone is already familiar with this program. If not, check this money making sites review blog for a sample on the implementation of Google Adsense on a blog.
There are a whole lot of contextual advertising programs today, the more popular of these are Bidvertiser, Chitika(aff) and Yahoo Publisher Network.
Please do note that having contextual ads really do not guarantee that you earn money with the programs directly. Some sites have more success with it than others so you should move on and try the other monetizing methods on this post if you aren’t having any luck on contextual ads.
2. Page Impression Advertising or Display Advertising
In some cases, some blogs just do not generate clicks from them so contextual ads are not the way to go. Do not fret if the above monetizing techniques does not work for you. There is another way to monetize your blog and Display Advertising is a good one. You get paid for the display of the ad unlike contextual advertising which credits you from the clicks from the ads displayed on your blog. There are also a lot of programs that offer CPM, one of the most popular is WidgetBucks(aff).
3. Targeted Advertising
This monetization method is one of the hardest to implement. For you to have success with this technique, a whole lot of time and effort should be made. You need to find advertisers and you need to properly set-up your blog and write quality content on it. Dress it up and make it very professional looking so as to make it more attractive.
You also need a whole lot of traffic or your blog needs to be very popular for companies to consider advertising with you.
4. Text-Links Advertising
This is the one of the most rewarding but the riskiest monetizing technique to date. You could potentially earn a whole lot of money from it but risk hitting the sandbox or in other words get penalized by Google. This technique should be used only if you already have an established blog. About 3 months ago, a whole bunch of bloggers, especially from the make money online niche got penalized by Google and had their PRs reduced. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to risk it if you are still building up your blog.
5. Having a Donation Button
The title pretty much says it all. You make money by getting donations from your readers. This would be good if you have a very loyal reader fan base. Ones that really love your blog’s content and somewhat trusts you.
6. Get Paid to Blog - Get Paid to Write Reviews on Your Blog
I will not include get paid to blog. I’ll do this one on a separate post because I will an extensive list and review on the popular PPP (pay per post) programs today.
So thats all for this, make sure you check out the blog regularly for more posts or subscribe to our feed to get the posts delivered directly to your reader at zero cost.
