Update:
I have listed all 7 hacks to create a read more / expandable post in blogger here. And this means, this post has been depreciated. thanks
Now, that you have learned the main idea of the read more hack in blogger, here is the step by step guidance to install read more hack on blogger.
This will work both for New Blogger Version.
So here it is,
1. Go to your blogger template HTML editor. Tick the “Expand Widget Template”
2. Go find this code
</head>
replace with this code below
<style type=”text/css”>
<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType != “item”‘>
.therest {display: none;}
</b:if>
<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType == “item”‘>
.readmorelink {display: none;}
</b:if>
</style>
</head>
3. Find this code
<data:post.body/>
Replace with this code below
<data:post.body/>
<a expr:href=’data:post.url’ expr:title=’data:post.title’>Read More…</a>
4. save your template and done.
Now all you need to do is just split your post content, and wrap the rest post with a div of “therest” class.
here is the example:
This is an example post. This paragraph is the exerpt. You should see this paragraph only on the homepage or on the front page or on the categories page or on the archive pages or on the search result page.
<div class=”therest”>This is the rest paragraph of the example post. You should be able to see this paragraph only on the post page or on the item page. you can not see this paragraph on front page, or on categories page, or on archives page etc.
This is the third paragraph. and of course this will be also seen on the post page only.</div>
Or if you want it automatically appear each time you create a new post. do this steps
1. Go to your dashboard -> Settings -> Formatting
2. Then on the post template, put this code below on the text box next to Post Template
your first paragraph here
<div class=”therest”>
All of your rest paragraph here
</div>
Now each time you create a new post, you will automatically know where to write your excerpt and where to write the rest post. hope it helps. thanks

can’t find what evripidis?
I’m sorry i wrote it as code…
I mean that i can find the 3d step of your guide “post content”.
I’ve searched it but i can’t…
Do you have any tips for keywords to search ?
I’ve search every line with “post” but….
I’ve enabled the checkbox above the html editor.
if you have ticked the “Expand Widget Template” check box, then you should be able to find it.
just use CTRL+F and then type “data:post.content” without the quote marks of course.
hope it helps.
btw, you’re on new blogger version are you?
Already checked ‘Expand Widget Templates’ but I cant found
issit same as ?
If you are still in classic blogger version, then you will never find it.
if you are in a new blogger version,
1. go to your template
2. go to your Edit HTML
now look at top right the HTML code area, there you should see a checkbox with label “Expand Widget Template”
thanks.
It’s very good and helpful.Thank you!
