For all of you who meets touble while changing the favIcon, here is the simple guidance, hope can help. –thanks reader for asking this question.
For all my blogs, usually you can see the favIcon line code is like this;
<link href='http://bp2.blogger.com/_IhPkkwt8jHk/RmUWMUiyNJI/AAAAAAAAAGc/kU-IseX-ib8/s400/Jack-Book.png' rel='shortcut icon'/>
So what you need to do to change or create your own favIcon is just simply
1. Go to your Template / Theme Editor,
2. Find this line;
<link href='http://www.yourdomain.com/directory/file-name.png' rel='shortcut icon'/>
it must be in the <head></head> section.
or if you
can’t find it, it means you need to create it by your self.
This is the image url. you can change it with your own image url.
http://www.yourdomain.com/directory/file-name.png
Does the image have to be .png?
No, you can have it on .gif, or .ico
3. save your template, refresh your blog and done.

I just create a blog that contents of pretty favicons where you can choice and only copy paste into your template.
May be, it’s usefull for your visitor and this comment also as announcement for all blogger.

I tried to create an animated icon and it worked, and Mozilla Firefox shows it animated, but Explorer first shows it static, then drops it; so keep it simple, as art the favicon is limited. Thought I would let you know.

Hey jack, it works fine, but when I comment on other blogs using Favatar Plugin, my favicon is shown as the default blogger favicon.

that is because in ie, your image must be in .ico format

Is there any reason that this trick doesnt works with classic blogger template.
I’ve tried to changed the B icon to my custom one, but it doesn’t works for me. I am using a classic templete, not a layouts ones.

Click on that, and that’s the google pages favicon. Resave your favicon, and name it like favicon1 or something like that.

Thanks a lot for the tip. Was driving me crazy. I put the favicon.ico file in the root directory and nothing changed. Finally I discoved the code in the header telling to look for the favicon in a specific folder. Changed the favicon in that folder and worked like a charm.

what do you mean you can’t find it? read the step #2, if you can’t find it, that means you can just put that line inside your head section. just put that line inside the <head> and </head>
